June Editor’s Letter
After last months mammoth Editor’s Letter I’m going to keep this short and sweet!
But firstly can I just say how amazing it was to witness the YES vote last weekend?! It was definitely a day for the history books. I know it’s a very divisive subject for people, but I’m just so happy that women will now have a choice in Ireland.
Summer is the official theme of Missy this June. I know…groundbreaking.
I always loved the summer additions of teen magazines back in my day (that makes me sound SO old!) They were always so fun and full optimism. So, we’re definitely going to be taking some old skool inspo from them on missy.ie!
This month we’ll be getting you in the holiday mood with lots of articles and our first fashion shoot!!! AND towards the end of the month we’ll be turning our focus to The Debs. We are super excited to show you what we’ve been working on. Also, if you’re looking for a summer job, we’ve already got you covered!
On a more serious and sadder note, I just wanted to take the time to acknowledge how sad and scary the news has been over the past few weeks for the young people of Ireland. Please mind yourself. We live in a scary world and it’s important to always take your safety into account. Sadly, we can’t prevent everything in life, but taking precautions like the ones Jessie spoke about here is a good start. If you feel uncomfortable or you’re not happy in someone’s company get yourself out of there with as little fuss as possible. From my experience your instincts are nearly always right. So, listen to them.
To those of you who just finished up school – well done! And the best of luck to everyone sitting their JC or LC. We are thinking about you and lighting all the candles.
