We love a good book here at Missy HQ, so we’re super excited for 2020 and all the YA book releases coming with it!

Here are the 5 2020 book releases we’re most looking forward to:

The Hunger Games books were definitely better than the movies, in my opinion. So if you haven’t, go give them a read in anticipation of the release of the prequel!

"The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will revisit the world of Panem sixty-four years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the Tenth Hunger Games."

Release date: May 19th, 2020

We love Cassandra Clare’s books, so we are really excited for the first instalment of this new series set in the same world as the Infernal Devices series.

"The Last Hours is a brand-new trilogy set in 1903 in Edwardian London. It’s a sequel trilogy to The Infernal Devices, and it follows the children of characters from The Infernal Devices. Cordelia, who encounters childhood friends James and Lucie Herondale and is drawn into their world of glittering ballrooms, secret assignations, and supernatural salons, where vampires and warlocks mingle with mermaids and magicians. All the while, she must hide her secret love for James, who is sworn to marry someone else."

Release date: March 3rd, 2020

This is the sequel to the brilliant One Of Us Is Lying.

"A ton of copycat gossip apps have popped up since Simon died, but in the year since the Bayview four were cleared of his shocking death, no one's been able to fill the gossip void quite like he could. The problem is no one has the facts. Until now."

As far as we can tell, the plot is much the same in the sense that it’s a mystery that brings together a group of students. We’re still very excited to give it a read, the first book was such a page turner!

Release date: January 7th, 2020

This is a dystopian style novel, so if you liked Divergent you’ll probably love this! The story follows Ellie, who lives in a New York City controlled by an alien species. All things creative have been banned. When Ellie meets M0Rr1S, an unlikely alliance is formed as the two head off on a road trip to save humanity.

"Can a girl who risks her life for books and an alien who loves forbidden pop music work together to save humanity? This road trip is truly out of this world! A beautiful and thrilling read for fans of Marie Lu and Veronica Roth."

Release date: February 25th, 2020

We LOVED The Kissing Booth movie! So we are super excited for this book to come out!

"Elle Evans seems to have finally tamed hotter-than-hot bad boy Noah Flynn, but now they're facing a new challenge. Noah's 3,000 miles away at Harvard, which means they're officially a long-distance couple - and it's tough. After all, there's only so much texts and calls can satisfy - and when Elle sees a post which suggests Noah's getting friendly with another girl, she's devastated."

Throw in a new guy at school who is definitely interested in Elle, and you’ve got the makings of a great love triangle! With both the movie and the book being released in 2020 we are beyond excited!
