Curtain Bangs: The Hair Style Everyone’s Loving
Curtain bangs are very in right now and with reason, they are so chic! Everyone from Gigi Hadid to Jennifer Lopez are rocking curtain bangs atm and we are here for it!! So here is a little background information on the latest hair trend and how you can style them!
What are curtain bangs!?
Curtain bangs are bangs (or a fringe for us Irish folk!) that are parted down the middle, (sometimes to the left or right) and swept to each side. They should perfectly frame your face and eyes like a curtain, just like the name!
Where on earth did they come from and why are they back?
If you are scratching your head thinking they look familiar but can’t quite remember where you recognise them from, it’s probably because you saw them in a movie from the 60’s or 70’s. They haven’t really been around since. They were first made famous by actresses from the 60’s and 70’s such as Goldie Hawn, and Farrah Fawcett. Why have they made a comeback in 2020 then?
The coronavirus could actually be the one to thank here!
A NYC stylist, Emily Heser, has commented on the viral trend and said she thinks it is to do with the fact people want to look stylish while wearing a mask. The curtain bangs allow you to do that because they are an added feature to your face! As well she thinks people are taking more risks with their hair this year simply because there isn’t much else to take risks on!
Should You Give Curtain Bangs A Try?
The great thing about curtain bangs is they look good on pretty much everyone! Whether you have straight, long, or curly hair.
The thing to remember is to tailor them to your best features. Some people might look better with them completely above the eye, while for others bangs that just graze the cheekbone look better. This is why it is recommended to get a stylist to do it for you rather than try cutting them yourself! They will be able to cut them to a length that suits you perfectly!

Now The Fun Part! How To Style Curtain Bangs
Bangs do take a bit of work, but it is always worth it as they look so good!
- Part your hair down the middle then take a one inch section close to the temples and wrap it around a one inch round brush. Make sure the brush is being held perpendicular to your hairline, (any other way the bangs may end up looking too puffy.)
- Run the blow dryer through your hair a few times, move it away and hold the section of hair in the brush for a few seconds to help shape it.
- Repeat this until you are happy with the shape, before moving to the other side!
So there you have it! Curtain bangs could be your new style for summer 2021!
