With winter drawing to a close, for most it means throwing away the winter coats and wooly jumpers. For us Irish though, we don’t exactly have the climate where we can afford to put away the winter clothes for another year, but we can still get excited for the upcoming trends coming our way in the spring and summer months.
Whether you love them or loathe them, cycling shorts will be staying around for a while longer. They made their appearance on the runways of Chanel, Roberto Cavalli and Prada. Cycling shorts will be your new favourite wardrobe piece, comfy, versatile and best of all cheap (for the most part). For your casual everyday look just team with an oversized tee, chunky trainers and you’re good to go!
Now this is one item I was very happy to see on the runways. What’s not to love about a jumpsuit? When the weather starts to get that little bit warmer a flowy, lightweight fabric jumpsuit is the perfect go-to. Worn with trainers and a cropped denim jacket for a daytime look but can take you straight to nighttime simply with a pair of heels. Cute AND practical.

One item especially suited to us Irish folk and our extremely unpredictable weather; the raincoat. An essential item of clothing fo us, and now seen across many runways in all shapes and colours. One that reoccurred was the see-through plastic raincoats on the Marc Jacobs and Fendi fashion shows. Expect to see a lot of statement raincoats in shops soon!

The Tailored Suit
Not exactly a new trend, but one that is here to stay a bit longer. The return of the suit is here and this time it is in an array of vivid colours; citrus shades and eye-catching hues of pinks and blues. If you’re not confident enough to go for the full tailored suit look, you can still be on-trend by just adding a blazer with a pop of colour to your wardrobe. Bonus points for neon colours!
Handbags really did steal the show across this years catwalks. From quirky patterns and geometric shapes, there were styles to cater to everyone. Get ready for your bag to become your statement piece over the coming months! Here are just a few of the bags that graced the catwalks of some of the biggest designers and how you can get the look yourself.
