How To Give Yourself An Energy Boost
Ah the long-awaited New Year. What a triumph. We have made it!!! Time for those New Year’s resolutions.
2020 was certainly a very draining year. It was exhausting to get through it but here we are! Give yourself a pat on the back. Well done you!
Hopefully we can get our vigour back for the year ahead and take with us some lessons 2020 taught us into the future. A lesson I needed to learn was how to give myself an energy boost and these are some tips I gathered along the way.
Control Stress Levels
You may not even realise but controlling your stress levels will allow you to keep your energy levels up. This is easier said than done but it is essential to avoid stress as much as possible.
Be sure to analyse the problem before you begin to get overly anxious. Ask yourself will it matter in a year or two and if the answer is no, then it is not important enough to impact on your mental health. However, if it does matter, all you can do is your best and no more. We often don’t realise how small a problem is until after we let our stress de-escalate.
Make sure to be aware of your stress levels and how it may negatively impact your work if you let it build up.
Manage Your Workload
Managing your work load wherever possible is critical in order to uplift your energy levels. Only you know your priorities and what is essential to get done. However, taking the odd day off or passing on a social event where you can, is fundamental to keeping those energy levels up. Know yourself.
For some taking a quick power nap may help before getting back to work. For others it could be a coffee or a screen break to give those poor eyes a rest.
However, remember it is important to take some time for yourself too. Whether that be reading a book or watching a movie be sure to create space for you-time in that busy schedule.
Exercise
Exercise is a guaranteed way to give yourself an energy boost. Not only is this a promised result but you will also feel your mood elevating. Even going on a five-minute walk outside will make you feel 10 times happier than before you left.
If you are unable to leave the house simply look up a quick workout or dance routine online and follow along.
Exercise is a fantastic way to get moving especially after a long day of school and attempts to give you a quick break from the working world before you get back to it.
Water
Water has endless benefits which is why it is so important to drink enough every day. It is recommended to drink about 6-8 glasses a day. If you are able for this challenge then you will see yourself reaping the benefits in no time. It is a fantastic way to give yourself a much needed energy boost. Hydrating will leave you feeling fresh and ready for the day ahead. Failing to drink water will lead to fatigue and exhaustion.
To help avoid burnout, water is an essential factor in your day-to-day life so be sure to drink up.
Go For A Cold Shower
A cold shower is a fantastic way to boost your energy. It is the perfect start to any morning. A cold shower will set you up for the day and battle against any fatigue you might be feeling. It will wake you up fully and is very beneficial. A cold shower while refreshing, also has the added benefit of leaving your hair and skin shining. Start gently and drop the temperature a few degrees each time you shower. In no time you will be used to the cooler temperatures and you will thank yourself in the long-term as you will feel significantly more ready for action than you once were.
So whether it’s a cold day in January or the hottest day of the year be sure to jump into the shower for a quick energy boost.
2021 will be your year – be sure to give it your all and with the ability to give yourself an energy boost there is nothing stopping you from achieving your dreams.
