SIMPLE STEPS I’M TAKING TO IMPROVE MY HAIR HEALTH

Anna Powell

I’ve always loved having long hair. However, I’ve never particularly focused on the health of my hair. In order for me to stick to this hair goal, I needed my plan of action to be easy to complete on a daily basis. This is why I have decided to implement four simple steps to improve the health of my hair.

Be sure to comment below if any of these steps help to improve your hair too.

Hair-Washing

I’m definitely guilty of over-washing my hair. I hate not being able to wash my hair when I’m having a shower which results in my hair getting washed way more than necessary. However, this has got to stop in order to improve the condition of my hair. This summer, I’m going to make an effort to not wash my hair unless it is actually dirty and needs a wash. My goal will be to leave my hair alone and not wash it for at least two to three days.

Hair-Detangling

In order to improve the health of my hair, I will now be detangling my hair with a wide tooth comb. Up until this point I have been guilty of brushing my wet hair with a hairbrush. Although I have always been careful while brushing my hair, using a hairbrush can often lead to a lot of breakage and split ends. This is why it is way better to gently comb your hair.

Hair-Drying

From now on, I’m going to do my best to let my hair try as much as possible by itself. Although I hate the feeling of my hair when it dries naturally, I am going to let it dry to at least 80% before finishing it off on a low heat using my hair dryer. It is also going to be absolutely necessary for me to use a heat protectant on each section of my hair in order to protect it as much as possible. Instead of using a regular towel, I’m also going to make an effort to wrap and dry my hair with an old cotton t-shirt to reduce the chances of hair breakage. You could also use a microfiber towel to achieve the same results.

Hair-Styling

Throughout the summer, I’m going to do my best to sacrifice the use of my curling iron. Throughout the past year, I have used way too much heat on my hair. It’s time to take as much of a break from heat as possible. I am also going to do my best to use accessories that wont damage my hair. Hair ties are known to cause a lot of split ends in hair. Instead of the hair ties I normally use, I plan to use scrunchies. Scrunchies are way kinder to your hair.

Do you anything in particular to improve hair health?
