The Best Makeup and Skincare Dupes
We love makeup and skin here at Missy. And when we say love we really mean it. We also love a good bargain. When you mix the two of them together to produce a dupe we become super happy! Here are some of our favourite Makeup and Skincare Dupes…
Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara is a very good dupe for the popular Too Faced Better Than Sex!
The Wet n Wild Bronzer in Reserve Your Cabana is EXTREMELY close to the famed Hourglass Powder in Dim Light. It is so pretty! It has a tiny bit more shimmer, but just barely. And it’s under €5, so we don’t even care.
Sources close to Missy tell us that Simple Hydrating Booster is a great and cheaper alternative to Clinique Moisture Surge.
The E.L.F. Gotta Glow Lip Tint is said to not only be a dupe for Dior Lip Glow but actually better than the original!
We love Glossier, but it’s annoying to get it in Ireland and as we’ve already said, we love a cheaper dupe. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1 has very similar ingredients to Glossier’s Super Pure and it’s under €6! Our Editor, Dani, swears by the Ordinary after it cleared up her persistent outbreaks last year. Some of The Ordinary products can be tricky to get because they sell out so regularly. Try ASOS, Cloud 10 Beautyor Cult Beauty.
Another brand that’s difficult to get in Ireland is Anastasia Beverly Hills. Yes, you can order online, but it’s so nice to actually have the option to go into a stop and test things out before you buy them. Fear not though, we have found a great dupe for the immensely popular Brow Wiz. NYX Cosmetics Micro Brow Pencil is just as good, in our opinion.
Penneys (or Primark depending on your location) have really been on top of their beauty game lately. We LOVE their Strobe Creme which is a very good dupe for M.A.C’s Strobe Cream. Apply this under foundation or mix together for a glowly finish. Another M.A.C dupe courtesy of Penneys is their 2 pack of blending brushes. The white one is great for applying eyeshadow, but it’s their black brush that’s giving us serious M.A.C 224 vibes! Did we mention that the pack of 2 brushes is only €4? We’ll definitely be picking up a few packs of these (okay, at least two) because you can never have too many blending brushes!
We’re not sure how Penneys/Primark are getting away with it, but their perfume range is really reminding us of that super luxe perfume that Brown Thomas stock! We’re not mad on the Rose Oud one because it’s so hard to get a rose perfume right and we think Jo Malone nailed it. But the Mandarin and Basil perfume is perfection and smells the exact same as the Jo Malone Lime, Basil and Mandarin.
Speaking of that brand Aldi have also brought out candles that are very similar. The Pomegranate Noir (seriously, HOW are they getting away with it?) smells fab and it only costs €4.99. Aldi have also launched diffusers that smell divine as James Kavanagh would say.
