Team Missy

‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ has been the most popular and talked about tv show this Summer, and aired its season 2 finale on August 18 2023. Therefore, you may be wondering ‘what happens next?’

Here’s everything we know so far on whether or not there will be a new season of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’

Will there be a season 3?

Do not fret, thankfully season 3 has been confirmed by Jenny Han, author, writer and producer of the books and tv series, who took to Instagram to share the good news:

Have they started filming?

Yes! When the third season was announced,  filming dates were uncertain because of the writing strikes in America. But good news – filming officially started this May!

Is the cast returning?

The show’s official Instagram shared a fun video of the main cast playing volleyball together on Cousins Beach. That means Lola Tung (Belly), Christopher Briney (Conrad), Gavin Casalegno (Jeremiah), Sean Kaufman (Steven), and Rain Spencer (Taylor) are all back for Season 3. Kyra Sedgwick, who plays Aunt Julia, confirmed that she will not be in the new season, but apart from that the full cast is unclear.

As for the remaining cast, it is unclear. However, we should probably expect some familiar faces and possibly some new characters!

When will it be released?

At the end of the video showing the cast hanging out on the beach, Lola Tung shouts “See you Summer 2025!”, so we can all look forward to a trip to Cousins Beach next Summer!

What will Season 3 be about?

Season 3 is expected to follow We’ll Always Have Summer, the third and final book in Jenny Han’s series. The story takes place two years after the second book and sees Belly once again torn between the Fisher brothers. However, in this book, she finally makes her decision.

Is this the last season?

While it hasn’t been confirmed as the last season, fans think that it might be since the book series only has three parts. But don’t worry, Amazon executives have hinted that there could be a spinoff in the works!
