The April Beauty Edit

I thought I would go a bit old-school style with this new segment on and share my current favourite makeup products.

IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better CC+ Oil-Free Matte with SPF 40

IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better CC is one of this products that I’ve heard a lot about, but recently I feel like I’ve seen it everywhere. So, of course I saw it as a sign that I needed it ASAP. I’m still on the hunt for a foundation that works well with my super oily skin and I thought that this might finally be “the one”. I have some good news and bad news to report.

Bad News:

The original IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better CC sucks for oily skin. It honestly made my skin fell disgusting after a few hours wear. So, I went and bought the Oil Free version. RIP my bank account!🙈

Good News:

The IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better CC+ Oil-Free Matte with SPF 40 works really well with oily skin. I’m actually obsessed with the finish of the oil-free version. I didn’t really like the normal one and TBH my skin felt so gross and heavy after a few hours wear. I won’t lie and say that it’s 100% amazing, but for the moment I’m really liking it and I probably would class it as my current favourite.

I purchased the IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better CC from QVCUK with the intention of using their money-back guarantee but I kinda forget to send it back (oops!) but I popped into Arnotts and asked for a sample to the IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better CC+ Oil-Free Matte with SPF 40 and I was really impressed when they gave me a really good size sample (I got 4/5 days out of it). So, I went back to Arnotts and bought it there. I also saw Bonnie Ryan talk about how great the Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation as for oily skin, so that’s now on my list to try! Seriously, someone stop me!

Carter Beauty 18 Shade Eye Palette – Warm Velvet, €14.95*

When Carter Beauty launched last August and I saw the eye shadow palettes I instantly knew that the Warm Velvet palette would be my jam. I only recently got it and OMG I’m obsessed! There are so many different looks that you can create with the palette and the pigmentation is really great. The colours really remind me of the Modern Renaissance Palette. For only €14.95 it’s well worth the money.

PS…Smoky Lash, Penneys, €3.50

This mascara has become my Number 1 Holy Grail product. I have converted so many people to this mascara and everyone raves about it. I hate clumpy mascara. I like a natural looking lash with more volume and something that lasts all day. As a disclaimer I used to love expensive, high-end mascaras, but I would never buy them again because this is SO much better and it’s cruelty free!

Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil, €15.20

No matter which eyebrow products tempt me I always come back to Benefit! They were the brand who made me obsessed with my eyebrows back in the day. I’ve tried all of the top brow products on the market but my favourite is definitely Benefit Precisely My Brow.

The reason that I’m including it on my April Favourites is that I did stray again, but not far. I was using the Benefit Goof Proof, but in my onion Benefit Precisely My Brow is way better. I like a really fine pencil for my eyebrows to fill them in without over-doing it. Benefit Precisely My Brow is really similar to Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Wiz. I went through 3 Brow Wiz‘s before I finally gave up the ghost and admitted that it wasn’t uh-mazing. Precisely My Brow  is the way to go!

Madison Makeup Contour Highlight Brush, €9*

First world problem story time; I lost my Charlotte Tilbury Powder & Sculpt Brush when I was traveling in Vietnam.😭 Yes, I spent €50 on one make brush, yes I’m stupid, yes I still lament the loss. I couldn’t find a brush that was similar and it was so annoying. I was using various Real Techniques brushes, but it just wast the same.

I was gearing up to buy a new Powder & Sculpt Brush when I was sent on the new Madison Makeup Contour Highlight Brush – it is identical to the Powder & Sculpt Brush and only costs €9! I love this for contour because it really allows you to build up and natural and subtle contour – no hash lines in sight. It’s also perfect for lightly dusting highlight onto the skin. I just seriously love this brush!

Currently Trialing

I’m pretty ridiculous in how I spend months considering one purchase but then impulse buy something else in two seconds. So it is with the iGlow Long Lashes Serum. I saw someone talk about it online and I got a confirmation email before you could say “Can you really afford that?“. I’ve been looking at gets a lash serum for a while now, so I’m interested to see how I get on with this – I will let you know!

What beauty products are you loving this month? Slide in to my DM’s on the Instagram – I love trying new products!

Steal The Look: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Makeup

We were OBSESSED with the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Makeup when watching the show. Sure, the storylines were gripping and Nick is a beaut to look at, but it was the hair and makeup looks that really stole the show.

We’ve already shared how you can steal Sabrina’s style, but we just had to know more about the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina makeup. And good news; we’ve found some of the exact makeup worn in the show! Step this way…

Steal The Look: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Makeup

Sabrina’s Makeup

Sabrina‘s head makeup artist Candice Stafford-Bridge chatted to Allure and told them that she keeps Sabrina makeup pretty simple. “She can raise the dead, but I wanted to be true to a 16-year-old high school girl and make her makeup believable,” says Stafford-Bridge.

The exact red lipstick that Sabrina wears? Christian Louboutin Velvet Matte Lip Colour in Very Prive. “It’s the world’s most expensive lipstick,” laughs Stafford-Bridge. “It just happens to look amazing on her.” So, we’ll start saving now then!

Stafford-Bridge avoids Instagram makeup or any on-trend looks to keep that same vintage vive that Riverdale has going on. That means skipping any noticeable contour or highlight.

The Dark Side of Sabrina

Sabrina’s makeup changes drastically as the series goes on and according to Stafford-Bridge that’s by design.

“I think the thing with making Kiernan less made up is that before the Dark Baptism, she’s pure and she hasn’t chosen the so-called Dark Side,” she continues. For the look, Stafford-Bridge prepped Shipka’s skin with Dermalogica Ultra Calming Mist, then mixed two Kjaer Weis cream foundations and Jane Iredale Dream Tint for a base to match her skin tone. Her rosy cheeks, meanwhile, come from either MAC’s Cream Blush in Rich Coral or MAC’s Powder Blush in Dusty Rose.

Then there’s the lip, a rosy peach balm by Dior. “In the early episodes her lips are the Dior Lip Glow in 004,” says Stafford-Bridge. “It gives her a really natural glow.”

When Sabrina finally swipes on some dark lipstick, though, pay attention: It’s a sign that she’s considering going all in with the coven. Take a scene in the second episode, for example, in which Sabrina calls on the Weird Sisters—a trio of dark witches decked out in Bite lipstickAnastasia Beverly Hills Eye Palettes, and stacks of false eyelashes—to assist her in pranking a group of boys who bullied her mortal friend at school.

She arrives to hex the bullies in classically witchy makeup, courtesy of Tom Ford Bruised Plum purple lipstick and a black powder along her lash line. It’s dramatic, it’s dark, and it matches the Weird Sisters perfectly.

Steal The Look: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Makeup

The Weird Sisters

The Weird Sisters definitely steal the show from Sabrina when it comes to the makeup in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. “We put all the makeup that you can possibly put on a face on them, and we go into the non-traditional colours, so greys and blues and blacks,” says Stafford-Bridge.

Their looks definitely aren’t everyday wear for us mere mortals. Prudence wears a blend of Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Squid Ink and M.A.C. Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Bespoken For.

Dorcas’ look is a little bit more attainable. She wears cult favourite  Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Glastonberry with M.A.C. Lip Pencil in Currant. Glastonberry is a berry-purple shade that shockingly looks amazing on just about everyone.

Agatha’s signature shade is Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Whiskey and the brand’s Lip Liner in #48 which are a mahogany and a blackened violet and unfortunately not available in Ireland at the mo’.

To finish-off The Weird Sisters makeup Stafford-Bridge “used all of the lashes in the lash drawer” (a mix of Ardell Individual Lashes and Kiss i•Envy Trio) and amplified with multiple layers of Dior Diorshow Mascara.

Who’s makeup look is your favourite in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina?

Trending: Hair Slides

It’s funny how you go from seeing something once or twice on Instagram and then it seems to morph into a huge trend overnight! So it is with hair slides!

Sure, they’re something we would have worn when we were 6 years old, but they’re just so pretty. And they’re a great way to add a bit of sparkle an outfit!

The Inspo

We love how simple and girly Kate La Vie‘s hair clips are. They’re a great way to do something simple but different with your hair and a Godsend if you’re in the awkward stage of growing out a fringe.

We are big fans of  What She Does Now at, seriously go follow Amy right now! Amy is fuelling our love of hair clips with her simple, but cute pearl hair slides. Sadly Amy’s Hair Clips from ASOS are currently sold out, but we’re crossing our fingers that they get them back in ASAP.

Even though we love the simplicity of a small hair slide, Kaelin Fox shows that you can still make a big statement by wearing lots of clips all at once. This trend is especially a big one on the red carpet at the moment too.

One of the things that we love about the hair slides trend is that it’s cheap and cheerful. There are lots of options available from Penneys, Accessorize and Claire’s Accessories. We’ve shared some of our favourites below.

What do you think of the hair slides trend?

Trending: Cranberry Eyeshadow

It’s no secret that we are big fans of berry makeup here at So, of course we are all over the latest berry eyeshadow craze. Well, cranberry eyeshadow to be exact.

The Inspo

Fuelling our obsession is the incredible Lili Reinhart who rocked cranberry eyeshadow with her striking red dress at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards. To create her red stare, makeup artist Adam Breuchaud used the Pat McGrath Mothership V: Bronze Seduction Palette.

It turns out that red looks fab with cranberry eyeshadow; who knew? Another look that we are OBSESSED with is the always fab Louise McSharry’s cranberry/pink eye look with a bold red lip. Obsessed, we tell you!

Top Tip

If the thought of cranberry eyeshadow scares you, fear not; there is a way to slowly introduce it into your eye makeup look. Cranberry eyeshadow looks great with burnt oranges and deep browns; why else do you think they’re included with the famed Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette and every dupe since?

Start off with the lightest cranberry shade and blend it on your eye lid. Then, take an orange shade and blend out the cranberry into the crease. Keep repeating this until you find an intensity that you like.

How To Stop Biting Your Nails Once And For All

How To Stop Biting Your NailsMy nails are my obsession. I religiously get my nails done every 3 to 4 weeks and they are my pride and joy. But it wasn’t always that way. You see, I have a secret; I used to be an obsessive nail biter. It’s something that I developed really early in life and no matter what my parents did to try bribe me to stop, I just couldn’t.

I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions, but if you’re looking to put an end to your bad habit, I have some tips on how to stop biting your nails to share.

Up front: I don’t recommend those awful tasting nail polishes. If you eat fruit or crisps the taste just goes onto that and it’s vile. You’re also not going to go out of your way to keep re-painting your nails with something so disgusting.

How To Stop Biting Your Nails Once And For All

Visualise all those germs under your nails and on your hands that you’re putting into your mouth.

Gross, huh? Yep, the best way to kick this dirty habit is to visualise all the dirt and grim that you’re voluntarily putting into your mouth. 🤢 I’m just going to leave it there because the thought is turning my stomach.

Think About How Other People See Your Nails

I’m not one to ever advise bothering with what other people think of you, but I’ll let this slide just this once. Think about what other people see when they look at your chewed nails. I just couldn’t kick the nail-biting habit until one day in school I was chatting with a classmate (and a fellow nail biter!) and I noticed her nails – they looked awful! Then I looked at my own with new eyes and realised mine were just bad, if not worse. This realisation made me see just how unsightly my nails were and I stopped biting them straight away.

Make Your Nails Look Nice

Making your nails look nice is such a good way to make you want to stop biting your nails. I love having my nails done because it always makes me feel put-together and just nice.

Give yourself a mini manicure at home and make them look super nice, so that it would break your heart to ruin them by biting them. This can be tricky depending on school rules. If you’re not allowed nail polish in school, go for a super nude/pink or even use a whitening pencil underneath (if you even have the length for this!) and a good clear top coat. The top coat will also help act as a deterrent for you. Once your teeth hit the nail polish it will remind you to stop biting.

Get Acrylics Nails

One sure-fire way to make you stop biting your nails is to get acrylic nails. Not only will they stop you biting away, they will also allow your nails to grow underneath.

Figure Out Why You’re Doing It

For me it was a bad habit for a very long time, but then I kicked the habit only to relapse in 5th Year due to anxiety and stress. I fully believe that that’s why I resorted to biting my nails for so long; it was a nervous tic and it was something that I did un-subconsciously to comfort myself. I have noticed on a few occasions through the years that under stress that I’ve tried to go back to my nail-biting ways only to be met with my shellac, which stops me. By figuring out why you are biting your nails to begin with you can address both problems.

So, there you have it my top tips on how to stop biting your nails for good. By bonus advice would be to invest in some good nail strengthening products like OPI Sensitive And Peeling Nail Envy Nail Strengthener to help build them up. I’m a big believer in rewarding yourself, so make sure that you treat yo’ self to something once your nails start to grow. I would personally advocate for a luxurious manicure to show off all your hard work.

Are you a reformed nail biter?

How To Refresh Makeup

There’s nothing worse than spending an age on your makeup only get catch a glimpse of yourself at mid-day to see that all your handy work has been undone and replaced by a haggard mess. Well, there are worse things, but you understand the struggle.

Here are some simple tips and tricks on how to refresh makeup that may have worn off during the day instead of applying a ton more product, because that just makes it so much worse.

Often operation refresh makeup takes place without your whole dressing table present. So, think about what you might need when putting your handbag together.

The No. 1 Rule

Don’t be tempted to go back in with more foundation. If your skin has excess oil on it it’s only going to mix with the new product to create more of a mess. Ewww! And if you have dry skin, re-applying makeup is only going to highlight the issue more. So, no more foundation!

Blotting Papers

Use blotting paper to remove excess oil that may have built up on your skin. Simply dab (don’t rub!) the paper over your face. The great thing about blotting papers is that they don’t disturb or remove too much of the makeup. If you’re stuck, use some tissue paper.

Missy Loves FENTY BEAUTY Invisimatte Blotting Paper.

Foundation Tip

A really great make-up artist approved tip for fixing foundation that has started to wear off in patches is to use setting spray. Simply spray the area with setting spray and then use a clean foundation brush or Beauty Blender to buff it in.

Missy Loves wet n wild Photo Focus Setting Spray.

Use a light dusting of setting powder to re-set makeup and get rid of any shine. Don’t ever be tempted to drag your expensive lose powder around in your bag – it never ends well! Instead pick up a good budget version to keep in your bag at all times, that way it’s always there when you need it and you won’t be super heartbroken if anything happens to it.

Missy Loves NYX ‘Stay Matte But Not Flat’ Powder Foundation

Conceal, don’t feel

If you feel like you really need more converge over a spot or under your eyes use a small bit of concealer and blend, blend, blend!

Missy Loves Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer.

Flush of Blush

Blush is always the easiest and quickest way to refresh makeup and add a bit more life back into your face. Don’t go overboard with it; just a quick swirl on the apples of your cheeks is more than enough. Go for something that has a bit of a glow to it to add a natural flush.

Beauty Advent Calendars: Are They Worth The Hype?

It seems like every brand does a beauty advent calendar once Christmas rolls around now. And although I’m easily swayed when it comes to consumerism, I just can’t seem to wrap my head around the cost of some of them when we are yet to win the lotto.

I love beauty, but I like to know that I’m actually getting value for my money. And although mini sizes are great for trying out new products, I’m not a huge fan of them especially if it’s on the spendy side. And I’m pretty sure we all remember that Zoella scandal last year.

But I still like to look at pretty things and there are a few beauty advent calendars to know about, plus the one I think is actually worth the hype.

Charlotte Tilbury Advent Calendar, €185

You know they way I said that I still haven’t won the lotto? Well if I did win the lotto, I would totally be buying this offering from Charlotte Tilbury. They are only 12 doors, which kinda upsets my OCD mind, but the sizes of the products are bigger than normal offerings from beauty advent calendars.

Jo Malone Advent Calendar, €360

Another one that I would totally buy if money was no object is this offering from Jo Malone. This includes mini perfumes, candles and body cremes in lots of beautiful scents from the iconic Jo Malone range. Some day I aspire to this!

M&S The Book of Beauty Advent Calendar, €40

One of my top picks for beauty calendars is this once from M&S. Yes, you have to spend €40 to qualify for it and then an additional €40 to buy it buy €80 for all of this is a pretty good bargain in my opinion. It’s a great way to try out lots of different brands and products. The section is pretty great and the sizes are decent too.

Aldi, €49.99

Ok, show us the stuff we can actually afford we hear you say. It’s mad that Aldi are allowed do this because it looks very similar to another beauty advent calendar, but God Bless.

This includes mini perfumes, candles, body lotion and room fragrances. If you have a few aunties that you need to buy for Christmas we would really advise that you try to get your hands on one of these. Divide them up, you can even buy some cute makeup bags, and make up mini hampers. If you gave everyone 4 items, that’s 6 presents that work out as €8.33 each!

And if you just can’t afford any of these options, chocolate is always the next best thing after makeup! I LOVE the Lindt Advent Calendars!

What are your thoughts on beauty advent calendars?

Dyson Airwrap: The €500 Hairdryer People Are Going Crazy For

YouTuber Milabu after using the Dyson Airwrap.

Sigh, Dyson why do you have to make things that we really, really want SO expensive? If you haven’t already heard all about the new Dyson styler, where have you been? Everyone online has been freaking out about the latest Dyson release.

Just when we were maybe thinking of investing in the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Dyson had to one up themselves and release a new hair dryer/styler hybrid, the Dyson Airwrap. Be still our beating hearts!

What’s So Special About The Dyson Airwrap?

The main hype about this is due to the fact that you can dry your hair AND curl it all in one go. Let that sink in! Imagine how much time you would save!

The newly developed technology by Dyson is pretty nifty in that it attracts the hair around the barrel and wraps it perfectly each and every time.

The Dyson Airwrap does all of this on a super low heat setting, so it causes no heat damage.

There’s a lot of talk about it being a curler, but there are different attachments for it to help you achieve a sleek blow-dry too. There’s also two operate attachments to control the direction in which you curl your hair.

Dyson Airwrap: The €500 Hairdryer People Are Freaking Out About

How Much Does The Dyson Airwrap Cost?

Nope, you really weren’t hallucinating by the title of this article. The Dyson Airwrap costs €449 for the basic set and €499 for the full collection of detachable heads.

If you want to get technically about it (or try justify the cost!) the regular Dyson Hairdryer costs €399. So, you’re getting a hair dryer AND a curler for €50 extra.

How To Get A Good Deal On The Dyson Airwarp

If you’re like us and you just love having the latest in beauty, listen up. QVCUK will be launching the Dyson Airwarp on 1 November for £399 (€451). They will also be offering the styler on 4 easy pays, which means you pay £100 a month at no extra cost AND you get a 30 day money back guarantee, which means you can try out the styler for 30 days and decide if you like it enough to keep. Considering it’s a lot to pay, we think its great to be able to really try it out and decide if you would like to keep it.

Full disclosure: that wasn’t sponsored, but we’re big fans of QVC here at and we always believe in a good bargain!

Here are two videos of the Dyson Airwarp in action. Warning: you will be so tempted to buy it straight away!

The Beauty Edit: Berry Lipsticks

What’s not to love about autumn? Halloween is looming, the jackets are out, the scarves are on and we can finally dig out our favourite berry lipsticks.

Berry lipsticks seem to intimidate some people, but we say there’s a berry lipstick to suit everyone and we’ve honestly never come across a person who doesn’t look fab sporting a berry lip!

Here are some of the best tried and tested berry lipsticks to try temp you over to the dark side…

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen, €6.99

We just love the NYX Soft Matte formula. It’s long-lasting, but comfortable to wear all day long. NYX have a great selection of colours in the Soft Matte range but it’s no surprise that our favour shade is Copenhagen. It’s such a stunning colour. There are deep red undertone in it which makes it suit anyone. This also comes with a matching lip pencil which means it’s going to last even better and you’ll also get a deeper colour.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte in Famous, €20

Famous verges more into a scarlet colour, but it still has a beautiful berry tone to it. We are earmarking this one for Christmas! The Huda Beauty formulas are super long-lasting too, we had to actually scrub it off of our hand with makeup remover to remover it!

berry lipsticks

e.l.f Matte Lip Colour in Scarlet Night, €5

This e.l.f is a bit like a lip pencil/lipstick hybrid. This is a really lovely colour because it has a purple/brown tone to it making it a great pick for day wear. We also love the thin applicator because it surprisingly makes applying lipstick a little easier if you’re a bit clumsy with normal lipstick.

Glossier Generation G in Jam, €17

Jam is probably the most easy to wear berry lipstick in our edit. It runs more on the purple side. Because it’s a bit like a balm it feels very nice to wear and is more low maintenance than the rest of the berry lipsticks. If you’re wanting to dip your toes in the trend this is the one to try! FYI: This is the colour that Veronica Lodge wears in season 1 of Riverdale!

M.A.C Satin Lipstick in Amorous, €19.40

Can you do a lipstick edit without mentioning M.A.C? We don’t think so! Amorous is more of a mauve toned lipstick than the rest. It has kinda photographed a bit weird above, but trust us – it’s a gorgeous berry shade! We highly rate the M.A.C Satin Lipsticks too because they’re more wearable than their matte formulas, which get a lot more attention.

Which berry lipstick is your favourite?
