About Missy

Missy exists because growing up is hard — and too often, teen girls are expected to figure it all out on their own.

School pressure. Friendship drama. Body changes. Periods. Confidence dips. Big feelings that don’t always have words yet. Missy was created to be the place you land when you’re thinking, “Is it just me?” — and the answer is always, no.

Missy.ie is a big-sister-style platform for teen girls, offering honest advice, real talk and support around school, friendships, body changes and growing up. It’s calm, kind and judgement-free — a space where you can learn, reflect, and feel a little less alone.

What Missy stands for

Missy isn’t here to lecture, scare or tell you who to be.
We believe in:

  • Honest conversations — without shame or fear-mongering

  • Big sister energy — supportive, not patronising

  • Emotional intelligence — helping teens understand themselves, not just cope

  • Safety and trust — for teens and the adults who care about them

Everything on Missy is created with care, responsibility and empathy at its core.

Dear Missy

At the heart of Missy is Dear Missy — our advice column where real teens share real dilemmas.

From friendship fallouts to school stress, confidence worries to growing-up moments, Dear Missy is where questions are met with understanding, not judgement. Every response is written with the same intention: to help you feel seen, supported and capable of figuring things out — in your own time.

More than just articles

Missy is a growing community, not just a website.

Here’s what you’ll find:

  • Weekly advice and features on school, friendships, health, confidence and pop culture

  • Missy Mail — a Friday inbox moment that feels like a note from your big sister

  • Practical guides (like our Period Guide) designed to be genuinely helpful, not awkward

  • Events, courses and projects that empower teens with knowledge and confidence

Everything connects back to one simple goal: helping teen girls navigate life with more clarity and self-trust.

Who’s behind Missy

Missy was founded by journalist and editor Danielle Mahoney, who grew up loving teen magazines and believing they could be more than just entertainment — they could be a lifeline.

Missy is built with the same belief: that having the right words at the right time can make a real difference.
