Summer School
Class is in session.
No uniform. No homework. No sitting in a classroom wishing you were somewhere else.
This is Missy University: Summer School — where the lessons are actually useful, the skills are actually real, and by the time September rolls around you'll have something genuinely impressive to show for your summer.
We're talking published magazines. Live journalism workshops. Real media skills. And a certificate that belongs on your CV.
Ireland's only journalism & media school made specifically for teen girls.
Built by Danielle, founder and editor of Missy.ie — who published her first article at 17 and has spent the years since helping Irish teen girls find their voice, their confidence and their place in the media world.
Everything we teach comes from real experience. Everything we build is made for you.
This summer we're opening the doors wider than ever — with two ways to learn, one very exciting gallery wall, and a clear path from your first magazine all the way to September's full Certificate in Teen Journalism.

Danielle Mahoney
Founder & Editor, Missy.ie
Danielle published her first article at 17.
No contacts, no media degree, no guarantee anyone would read it. Just something she wanted to say and the stubbornness to say it.
Since then she's built Missy.ie into Ireland's number one digital destination for teen girls, become a regular voice on RTÉ Radio 1 — including Morning Ireland and The Oliver Callan Show — and been featured across some of Ireland's most respected publications.
The writers who got their start on Missy.ie have gone on to build serious careers in Irish media.
Real bylines. Real careers. Real proof that starting somewhere matters — and that the right start changes everything.
You're not buying a course from a stranger on the internet. You're learning from someone who has done this, who has helped hundreds of other girls do it too, and who genuinely cannot wait to see what you make.
Straight from the class.
The course covered the foundations of journalism and writing articles really well. It even went in depth about courses, internships and future careers in journalism which was immensely helpful for students and people in the Leaving Certificate.
I thought the notes were so amazing and something that will be a great tool for writing, so thanks so much! I am really glad I attended the course because I feel so inspired afterwards!
I found the course so interesting and fun, very relaxed environment. Everything I wanted to learn more about was covered and Danielle and the other members of the group were lovely! So much freedom to ask any questions we had.
Your questions, answered.
Is this just for girls who want to be journalists?
Not at all. The skills you learn here — writing, design, creative thinking, Canva, editorial judgement — are useful in every creative career. Marketing, PR, social media, content creation, teaching, law, business. If you communicate for a living (which most people do), this course makes you better at it.
Do I need experience?
None. If you can write a text message and use Instagram you have everything you need to start.
What age is this for?
13–19 for the teen courses. We're also planning something for older students later in the year — watch this space.
Can I do just one thing, or do I have to do everything?
Completely up to you. Each course stands alone. The magazine course is brilliant on its own. The Zoom workshop is brilliant on its own. But if you do both — you'll arrive in September with a portfolio, a certificate and skills that most adults don't have. Just saying.
What if I have more questions?
Email hello@missy.ie — we genuinely love hearing from prospective students and their parents.
