Missy University: Teen Journalism Course — Live on Zoom (Saturday Sessions)
€75.00
The Missy University Teen Journalism Course is three live sessions on Zoom with Danielle Mahoney, founder and editor of Missy.ie. We’ll cover everything from coming up with article ideas to writing pieces that actually get published — all in a small, supportive group where there are no stupid questions and every writing ability is welcome.
This isn’t a lecture. It’s a conversation. Think of it as three hours with someone who has actually done this — and wants to help you do it too.
What we cover across the three sessions:
How to come up with article ideas — and know which ones are worth pursuing
How to write headlines that make people actually want to read
How to structure and write a great article from scratch
Writing and editing tips that will immediately make your work better
How to promote your work and build an audience
How the journalism and media industry actually works — internships, portfolios, getting your foot in the door
Plenty of time for questions, discussion and real input from the group
You’ll also get worksheets and notes for every session, plus optional assignments between sessions.
Who is this for?
Anyone aged 13-19 with an interest in writing, journalism or media. You don’t need any experience — just curiosity and a willingness to try. Whether you want to pursue journalism as a career, build a portfolio for college applications, or just become a better writer, this course is for you.
Saturday Cohort — Sat 11th July, 18th July, 25th July · 11am – 12pm
Pick whichever works best for your summer. Both cohorts cover exactly the same content.
Where does it happen?
Live on Zoom. We’ll email your link, your notes and your worksheets ahead of the first session. You can keep your camera on or off — whichever you’re most comfortable with. This is a safe, supportive space for every writing ability and we mean that genuinely.
Places are limited to keep the group small and the sessions personal.
