If you’re like me and are obsessed with getting your nails done, then you’re probably counting down the days until the nail salons can open.
As I have been waiting (not so patiently) to be able to see my nail artist again, I’ve spent hours on Pinterest researching some inspiration to bring with me when my nail salon reopens (which has now been moved up to 29 June – yay!)
What Do the Professionals think?
I asked my nail artist and young entrepreneur Courtney Lee (@nailsbycourtneyjade on Instagram) what she thinks will be the number one requests she’ll receive when she’s able to open up. According to Courtney, “ cow print will still be huge for summer, neon french tips and also old English font is really popular at the moment!”. She also said that “there will definitely be a lot of neon and bright colours”. Be sure to check out Courtney’s Instagram for serious nail envy, and her new salon opening soon (@peachysalon).
Here are some nail trends that I think will be BIG in 2020…
Colourful French Tips
I definitely agree with Courtney on this! This exciting and fresh twist on the classic french tip nails is super simple, yet super effective. Opting for a bright red, or a soft lilac can instantly create a serious beauty statement. This looks great on any length nails, which means it’s perfect if your nails are shorter after lockdown – I know mine are!

can you even deal with this wild flash & eye set we done the other day? ⚡️ . . . . . . . . . . . . #nailart #nailsofinstagram #nailsofig #nailedtensions #handpainted #handpaintednailart #showscratch #clawgasmic @clawgasmic #yaycork #corkcity #salon #nailsapn #nailtech #nailtechnician #lighteningnails
Adding a lightning bolt to any solid colour makes it instantly cooler! Add it on one nail, or on all of them! A fun take on this trend is having a different colour bolt on each nail. This trend is super fun and I will definitely be partaking.
Feeling brave? If so, why not go for a full glitter or holographic set? This is my ultimate go-to. You cannot go wrong with some sparkles!
If you love wearing floral patterns, why not put them on your nails? This is a great look for summer and looks especially fab on a pastel colour (like baby pink, light yellow, or lilac).
What 2020 nails trends are you loving and going to be asking your nail artist for on June 29th?
