5 Products To Help Fight Off Spots

Team Missy

Look, we know spots are not the worst thing that can be wrong in the world, but sometimes in your own head it sure can feel that way.  They can be a big hit to your confidence, especially if they just won’t go away.  Here are a few things that we have found help a lot to fight of spots…

5 Products To Help Fight Off Spots

Tea Tree Oil

Most spot creams contain Tee Tree Oil so we reckon why not go to directly to the source and use a bit of pure Tea Tree Oil. We love the Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil, but Tea Tree Oil is Tea Tree Oil and you can pick it up in any health food stop. This is brilliant at drying out spots quickly and brings down any redness.

Deep Cleanse

A big problem with spots is actually what’s going on underneath your skin.  You need products that are going to really get in there and sort out the problem from within. That’s why First Aid Beauty’s Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay is great for removing excess oils and unclogging pores. It draws out the skin’s toxins and reduces sebum productions.

Salicylic Acid

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution is excellent for helping spot prone skin. It exfoliates, unclogs pores, targets acne and congestion. It’s an ideal treatment for acne, blackheads or congestion. Salicylic acid can also be used in the same way as glycolic acid to exfoliate and brighten, it’s also anti-inflammatory. The best thing about this is the price point at only €4.90. On the downside it can be hard to track down due to it’s popularity. Try Cloud10Beauty, Asos, and LookFanatisic.

Wonder Pads

Still on the salicylic acid train Waxperts Wonder Pads are a great alternative to The Ordinary and it’s an Irish brand. Waxperts Wonder Pads were originally made to help with ingrown hairs after waxing, but beauty editors quickly realised that they are brilliant at getting rid of spots. You can order them online or try a local salon as many places around Ireland stock them. These are great for stopping spots when you feel them coming up and for reducing redness.

Stay Matte

A lot of people sometimes feel tempted to skip out on moisturiser if they have a problem with spots or have oily skin, but this is a huge mistake. You need to be moisturising your skin to help keep it nourished. You also need to be protecting your skin. That’s why Image Skincare Prevention Matte Moisturizer is the bomb.com. It’s oil free and mattifying so it’s going to really help control the overproduction of oil. It also has SPF in it which you need everyday, not just during the summer.

If it’s really getting you down and if nothing seems to help it might be time to speak to your GP who can refer you to a Dermatogyst. Also look at your diet. Recent studies have found a link between acne and dairy consumption. So that might be worth looking at. In terms of trying to hid them use a green toned concealer over blemishes before your foundation and then lightly buff concealer over the blemish. We love M.A.C Pro Longwear Concealer as it’s really heavy duty stuff buffed in with a Real Techniques Setting Brush.

Have you any skin saviours when it comes to spots?
