Bridgerton Season 2 Is Officially Happening!

Bridgerton Season 2 is officially happening! Netflix confirmed the news today!

Netflix’s Bridgerton is the show people just can’t stop talking about. From the costumes, to the scandal, to the music, we are obsessed. And let’s not forget to mention Regé-Jean Page! We just couldn’t get enough of the first season of Bridgerton.

So what about a Bridgerton season 2? The Netflix series is based on the first of eight best-selling books by Julia Quinn, which means creator and showrunner Chris Van Dusen has material ready and waiting to be adapted.

Will there be a Bridgerton season 2?

Yes, Bridgerton season 2 was confirmed today (21/01/2021).

Bridgerton has been one of Netflix’ most successful shows ever with over 63 million households steaming it in the first two weeks after its release. It’s no surprise a seaon 2 has already been confirmed. And with more books in the series you can bet we will be getting more Bridgerton.

What will the Bridgerton season 2 plot be about?

The first season was inspired by Quinn’s first book, The Duke and I, and focuses on the relationship between Simon Basset and eldest Bridgerton sibling Daphne Bridgerton. Meanwhile, the second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me, turns to London’s most eligible bachelor Anthony Bridgerton and his relationship with a woman called Edwina. However, there’s one problem: Edwina’s sister Kate Sheffield. As for Lady Whistledown, she’ll of course be back to cause more mischief with her Society Papers.

Although each book in the series focuses on a different Bridgerton sibling, we think it’s safe to say that any additional seasons of the show will also include a lot of Daphne and Simon, due to the immense popularity of the characters and the actors who portray them (we’re all following Regé-Jean on Instagram now, right?)

When will Bridgerton season 2 land on Netflix?

At this point, who knows.

Whilst a second season has been officially confirmed production will be impacted by the on-going coronavirus pandemic.

If we’re super lucky we could get season 2 of Bridgerton by the end of 2021, but a 2022 release is probably more realistic.

Sleuths spotted on Production Weekly that a second series was due to start filming in July 2020 on location in Uxbridge and production was meant to run until May 2021. Obviously it didn’t go ahead due to the pandemic, but What’s On Netflix reports that the filming start date has now been pushed back to March 2021.

This post will be updated as more details emerge.
