How to incorporate the Balletcore trend into your wardrobe
Trends come and go, we all know that. Sometimes the trend cycle moves so fast, we don’t even have time to do a Next Day Delivery on a haul before it’s already considered out of style. But Balletcore has been seen on red carpets and runways consistently for the last number of months, so we have hope in this one that it’s going to stick around. But don’t worry – you’re not going to be walking to class in a tutu (unless that’s your thing). And if you’re scared you’ll look like you’re heading to toddlers ballet, we’re here to show you how you can subtly incorporate Balletcore into your everyday wardrobe.
Ballet flats
If you’re getting flashbacks to primary school discos here, you’re not the only one. But Ballet flats are back, and they’ve had a revamp. Ones like these from ASOS will quickly elevate a plain outfit and give it an edge. Or if Ballet flats aren’t your thing but you still want to get in on the trend, something a little fancier like these flats might be a good addition to your wardrobe. Ballet flats are a great alternative when you don’t want to be wearing trainers, but the thought of high heels is already hurting your feet!
Wrap cardigans
A wrap cardigan (bonus points if it’s in baby pink!) gives the impression of a Ballerina off duty, heading to get coffee during rehearsals or on their way to a night in the theatre. They’re a subtle nod to Balletcore, and can be styled over dresses and skirts, or even worn casually over leggings and jeans. This baby pink wrap cardigan from H&M is a gorgeous piece for your wardrobe that can be worn in so many different ways (we’re proud outfit repeaters!). Or, if you’d prefer a statement piece to be worn on its own, we love this one from ASOS, which would be perfect for our Irish summers.
Ballet buns
If you don’t want to commit to the Balletcore trend in your wardrobe, why not try it with your hair? Ballet buns are just a variation of the slicked back hair that’s also trending at the moment. Simply tie your hair back into a low ponytail, taking it all away from your face. Wrap your hair into a bun and secure with some bobby pins, before using some hairspray or hair gel to keep it all in place. Five minutes in the morning and your hair is in place all day, giving you that off duty Ballerina look.
Leg warmers
Leg warmers definitely aren’t for everyone but they’re a fun way to spice up your wardrobe without having to commit to the outfit for the day. With summer on its way, we’re all mad to pull out our dresses and skirts out of the wardrobe without wearing the thick winter tights we’ve gotten used to. But maybe you’re not ready to bare all just yet. Leg warmers are the perfect transition between the tights of winter and the short skirts of summer, meaning you’re never too hot or too cold. These ones from Amazon are perfect for getting you from one season to the next.
