5 Celeb Couples Who Still Had To Work Together After Breaking Up
As we morn the breakup of IRL “Bughead” Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart we are left wondering if it’s going to be awkward as hell on the Riverdale set?
There seems to be something in the water when it comes to actors coupling up in real life on the set of teen dramas only for them to break up.
Here are some other celeb couples who still had to work together after breaking up…
1. Blake Lively and Penn Badgley
Blake and Penn dated from 2008 to 2010 whilst they also played love interests Dan and Serena on Gossip Girl.
What’s worse than having to work with your ex for years after you break up? Oh, you know, having to MARRY them onscreen! Yep, Blake and Penn had to act out wedding scenes on Gossip Girl. This was made even more awkward by the fact that Blake had just married Ryan Reynolds in real life weeks before. Penn did not look happy on set – we can’t say that we blame him!
2.Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart
Is it too soon to talk about this one? Because we’re not sure that we believe in love anymore.
Cole and Lili made the cutest couple, both in their portrayal of “Bughead” in Riverdale and in their real life romance. So, we were shocked to hear that the two of them had called it quits after more than two years of dating.
They seem to have a lot of love for each other so maybe the breakup won’t stick. It’s gotta be hard though to maintain a relationship along with the pressure of living in the bubble of a very popular TV show. Here’s hoping that they work it out because we don’t think our hearts could take a Bughead breakup as well.
3. Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev
Another onetime couple who had a very awkward time onset was The Vampire Diaries Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev.
They dated for three years during the filming on The Vampire Diaries but split in 2013 amid reports that Ian was ready to settle down, but Nina wasn’t (there was a 10 year age gap between the two). Soon after Ian started dating Nikki Reed (also known for playing a vampire) and they got engaged after only 6 months of dating. Soon after Nina announced that she was leaving The Vampire Diaries and the show continued without her.
Even though the media tried to make a lot of drama out of the situation Ian and Nina made a big show of staying united and on friendly terms for the sake of the show and the fans. It can’t have been easy though.
4. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson
We’re really digging into the celeb gossip archives with this one, but WOW this was such a huge story and scandal at the time.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson met on the set of Twilight in 2008. The movies were obvs a huge success and it turned the two of them into Hollywood stars.
As soon as Twilight came out it was rumoured that they were dating, but it was hard to tell if it was real or just a way to drum up some more attention from fans online. The two never addressed the rumours, but after a lot of pictures of them came out over the years it was pretty obvious that they were together.
Flash forward to 2012, the couple only had one more Twilight movie to promote, The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part:2, when Kristin was photographed cheating on Robert with a married director. The two still had to promote the movie and walk red carpets together. The stuff of nightmares!
There was a bit of back and forth over them getting back together, but they split for good in 2013. At least Bella and Edward lived happily ever after!
5. Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray
Actors Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray met on the set of popular teen drama One Tree Hill. They married two years later but separated after only 5 months of marriage with Sophie citing fraud in the divorce papers.
One Tree Hill ran for seven more years after they broke up, so the former couple still had to work together for a long time. Sophie later went on to date James Lafferty who played Chad’s brother on One Tree Hill and then Austin Nichols who played Julian Baker. So messy….
