Sex Education Season 3: Everything You Need To Know

Team Missy

All we can say about Sex Education is, what a show.

We loved season 1 and we were absolutely obsessed with season 2 (are Ottis and Maeve ever going to get together??) so of course we need to know everything we can about Sex Education season 3.

Season 3 Has Already Been Confirmed

Waiting for your favourite show to be confirmed for a return can feel like an age.

Thankfully Netflix put us out of our misery quite soon after season 2 by announcing that a season 3 of Sex Education was definitly happening with this fun video back in February (in the “before” times!)

At the time of the announcement it was expected that Sex Education season 3 would air in early 2021.

Filming For Sex Education Season 3 Has Started

As we’ve mention quite a few times now (sorry to be a broken record!) the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the majority of movies and TV shows filming in 2020, but Netflix confirmed that Sex Education had gone back into production in September 2020 with this video of the cast getting ready…

Are The Cast Returning?

We’d also expect to see Olivia (Simone Ashley), Ruby (Mimi Keene) and Anwar (Chaneil Kular) – aka The Untouchables – Aimee’s boyfriend Steve (Chris Jenks), Miss Sands (Rakhee Thakrar), Mr Hendricks (Jim Howick), Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt), Adam’s mum Maureen (Samantha Spiro), Jackson’s mums Sofia (Hannah Waddingham) and Roz (Sharon Duncan-Brewster), and Otis’s dad Remi (James Purefoy), among others.

Season two also added three new cast members: Rahim (Sami Outalbali), super smart Viv (Chinenye Ezeudu) and Maeve’s new neighbour Isaac (George Robinson).

And season three has also done the same.

Harry Potter and Star Trek: Discovery‘s Jason Isaacs has been cast as Peter Groff, headmaster Groff’s older, more successful brother.

Adam’s dad has been staying with him following his split from his wife Maureen.

Girls star Jemima Kirke will play the school’s new headmistress ‘Hope’ after Mr Groff was booted out.

She used to be a Moordale student herself, so she has big plans to get the establishment back to its winning ways.

And finally, Dua Saleh, a gender non-conforming songwriter and recording artist will play Cal, a nonbinary student who finds herself at loggerheads with Headmistress Hope.

Sex Education Will Continue To Tackle Difficult Subjects

See Also

One of the reasons that Sex Education is immensely popular is for how it deals with difficult topics in an informed way. It really does act as an education for many, without preaching.

So what’s in store for season 3?

Well they could cover anything but there is speculation that the plot is expected to deal with hardcore topics like sexual assault, leaked nudes, abortions, chlamydia outbreak to name a few.

When Will Season 3 Be Released?

Season 1 and 2 of Sex Education was released in January 2019 and 2020, respectively.

Although filming had resumed in September 2020 another lockdown has since been announced in England. Meaning it’s looking unlikely that Sex Education season 3 will get a January 2021 release.

Expect it to be released at some point in 2021…hopefully.

As ever, we will keep you up to date!

This post will be updated as more details emerge.
