The First Trailer For ‘Conversations With Friends’ Is Here

Team Missy

After the huge success of Normal People it was only a matter of time before Sally Rooney’s other book, Conversations With Friends was adapted into a TV show. That time is now, and the release of Conversations With Friends is almost upon us.

Here’s everything that you need to know…

Conversations With Friends Was Written Before Normal People

Yep, Conversations With Friends was Sally Rooney’s first book. It came out two years before Normal People. Fun fact: an adaption of Conversations With Friends was already in the works before Normal People was made into a TV, but the novel is a bit messier with its dynamics and producers struggled to make it work, so they focused on Normal People instead.

Who Stars In Conversations With Friends?

Unlike Normal People which cast relative unknowns in the roles and made them stars, Conversations With Friends will have a mix of new and familiar faces.

The big name for most people under the age of 35 is Joe Alwyn who plays Nick a famous actor. Yes, *that* Joe, aka Taylor Swift’s main love for the past 5+ years. Also in the cast is Jemima Kirke know for Girls and more recently as the new Head Mistress in Sex Education. Rounding off the cast is Alison Oliver and Sasha Lane, who are going to be big names after the release.

Conversations With Friends centers on Frances, a 21-year-old English major in Dublin, and her tenuous bond with former-girlfriend, now-best-friend Bobbi. One night out, they meet Melissa, an accomplished author in her 30s. Before long they’re thrust into an intricate study of intermingling couples—Bobbi bonding fiercely with Melissa, while Frances and Melissa’s husband, well-known actor Nick, navigate their own heated sexual connection. Frances is our eyes and ears through boozy dinner parties, a spontaneous Croatia getaway, and a budding secret affair.

Conversations With Friends Will Be Different From Normal People

People expecting Normal People 2.0 might be in for a bit of a shock if they’re unfamiliar with the source material in Conversations With Friends. Whereas Normal People focuses on an intense and intimate relationship, Conversations With Friends focuses on the messy dynamics between four complicated characters. And the characters aren’t always likeable. But with the same team helming this adaption, we think they’re going to do something quite special with it, which is why we’re so excited to see it.
