Ultimate Guide To The MCU

Sorcha Kennedy

Are you experiencing serious FOMO right now with all the talk about the new Marvel shows and movies?

Are you dying to see Florence Pugh in Black Widow but haven’t seen any other MCU movies? Starting the Marvel movies now can definitely be daunting because there are a LOT of movies. But, I happen to be a Marvel fanatic and I’ve put together a guide to help you through (your welcome).

Here are the key movies in the MCU and the order I believe they should be watched, have fun!

P.S these are the ones I deem necessary so you understand Black Widow, but I will also include my personal faves with basically no importance at the end.

The Core Movies

1. Captain America: The First Avenger

While it wasn’t the first MCU movie released, it is the first one in the timeline so I recommend beginning here.

2. Iron Man

The movie that started it all, a must see!

3. Iron Man 2

The first introduction of Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow).

4. Avengers Assemble

You can watch Thor before this for extra back story, but you won’t be lost if you give it a skip.

5. Iron Man 3

This is one of my personal favourites and is, in my opinion, one of the best MCU movies!

6. Captain America: The Winter Solider

Our first introduction to Falcon and the Winter Soldier (hint hint they have their own Disney+ show now).

7. Avengers Age Of Ultron

We get to see Wanda Maximoff in action for the first time, an essential if you want to delve into WandaVision!

8. Captain America: Civil War

My personal favourite and a key turning point in the story!

9. Avengers Infinity War

Once again for extra backstory, you can watch Black Panther, Spiderman Homecoming, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy before this (but you don’t have to).

10. Avengers Endgame

The grand finale (bring the tissues)!

Extra Reccomendations

If you want to watch WandaVision…

Captain Marvel is sort of a prequel to WandaVision but you can still watch it without seeing Captain Marvel

If you’re looking for a laugh…

Thor Ragnarok and the Ant Man movies are hilarious. They are basically stand-alone movies with little background knowledge required (so anyone can watch them).

If you’re looking for great action…

Spiderman Homecoming and Far From Home, and Black Panther are really cool action movies that the whole family will love!
