How To Make The Most of Summer 2021 In Ireland

Róisín Lynch

It’s looking like we will be spending summer 2021 in Ireland, similar to last year.

While it is always nice to get away to a warmer climate during your summer holidays, there are lots of fun things to do in Ireland during the summer time.

If you are looking for some inspiration on how to make the best of the summer in Ireland take a look at the list of suggestions below. You never know, it could turn out to be one of your best summers yet!

Make a summer bucket list

A great way to get excited for summer is to make a bucket list of all the fun things you can do. Sit down with your friends and plan out a list of all the things you want to do this summer. Make it your mission to tick them all off before the end of summer. That will definitely give you things to look forward to during the summer holidays and will keep you entertained all summer long!

Do things you usually wouldn’t

With lots of time to kill it’s the perfect opportunity to try some things you wouldn’t usually. Try out activities that you would usually say no to. Maybe it’s rock climbing, or paddle boarding. You never know you might find a new hobby that you love and if not at least you can say you gave it your best shot. Make the most of your time by facing some of your fears and being that little bit more adventurous.

Obviously only do things that aren’t dangerous or potentially harming!

Go outside as much as possible

While it is easy to spend your time off bingeing Netflix, try to make a pact with yourself to go outside at least once a day. The weather can be nice in Ireland in the summer, so try make the most of it. Maybe meet up with your friends in the park or go on some walks and hikes. It’s a great way of making use of your time and you will feel all the better for it. Make the most of the sun while we have it, cause we all know how rare it is!

Take time for yourself

While it is nice to use your summer holidays making memories with your friends, it can also be a great time to take some much needed alone time. When you are with your friends all the time it can be easy to get caught up in doing the things they love and not be fully aware of what it is you enjoy. Try to take a day here and there this summer to spend time on your own, trying out different activities to discover what it is you enjoy without the influence of your friends!

Plan a staycation

While you can’t go to Spain or Portugal to get some much needed time in the sun you can explore other places in Ireland. Ireland is actually pretty stunning on a good summers day. Plan a staycation with your friends or family and make the most of Irelands stunning beaches and countryside. You’ll probably have just as much, if not more fun than going on holiday abroad!

Give sea swimming a go

It might be a little nippier than the Mediterranean Sea, but once you get past the first initial cold shock, a swim in the Irish Sea can be pretty refreshing. It will make you feel that little bit closer to being in Spain or your usual summer spot.

Try out some new hobbies

Use the time you have this summer to try out some new hobbies. You can do this on your own or with some friends. There are so many options to choose from. You could try pick up running with a friend, swimming, roller blading, the list goes on! Make the most of your time and try to push yourself to try new things. It’ll be a fun experience regardless of if you succeed or not!

Are you excited for summer 2021 in Ireland or would you rather be lounging out in the sun somewhere?
