Niall Horan’s US Fans Are Furious With Dustin The Turkey
Just when you thought 2020 couldn’t get any weirder Niall Horan fans in the US have been trying to cancel Dustin The Turkey (there’s a sentence we never thought we’d write!)
If you were watching RTE Does Comic Relief on Friday night you would have seen a perfect piece of Irish childhood come to life again with the return of The Den.
For those of you who didn’t have the joy of growing up with The Den (we’re so sorry!) it was a children’s program that ran on RTE 2 on the weekdays during the 90’s and 00’s. The Den pushed the boundaries of what was considered acceptable viewing for children and young people, often employing irreverent and occasionally satirical humour. It was iconic to a generation of Irish children. So, it was great to see it briefly return all in the aid of charity.
One of the regular segments on The Den was performances from young children, it was the dream to be on The Den in any way. One of those people who tried to get on the show and failed was a young boy from Mullingar named Niall Horan. And look at him now!!
Niall was invited on the Comic Relief show as part of the sketch and well, fans in the US are not happy as they think that The Den, and specifically Dustin The Turkey, insulted Niall! They showed a clip of Niall in a pre-reordered performance and cut him off (due to timing) but Dustin made a joke that they “wanted Harry Styles” and Niall was “only getting a minute and a half” to preform. We all laughed. Niall’s fans in America did not!

We don’t think it needs to be stated that the whole thing was a humorous sketch that Niall himself was in on, but apparently Irish humour is lost on Americans because they spent the whole weekended ranting about Dustin on Twitter and how he had disrespected Niall. We kid you not…
