10 Questions With…Clóda Scanlon

Veronica Murphy

Welcome back to another week of 10 Questions, where this week we decided we wanted to catch up with the lovely Clóda Scanlon.

Clóda, who hails from Tipperary, started out many years ago when she created her personal blog, OrangeObviously. Since then, she has become the founder of Allora.ie – an Irish Social Media Agency. Not only does Clóda run her own business, but she also has her very own podcast Make The Connection, where she discusses the highs and lows of navigating life in your mid-20s and lessons being learned along the way.

If that wasn’t enough, she also busy keeping us entertained over on the ‘gram and TikTok, organising meet-ups and advocating for wellness and mental health.

1. What was the first thing you did when you woke up this morning?

Usually, I grab my phone for a scroll, which I know is SO bad. I’m trying to swap it out for morning journaling, and listening to soothing music on my Alexa so I can avoid screen time first thing in the morning.

2. What is your go-to karaoke song?

Dancing Queen, ABBA of course!

3. TikTok or Instagram?

I love both for different reasons, but I am an OG Insta girl so I have to stick to my roots!

4. Last book you read?

I don’t actually read books. I’m more of a visual/audio learner and listener, so you can catch me listening to podcasts, watching creators online, and watching tv.

5. What destination is on your bucket list?

Madeira in Europe and Vietnam outside of Europe.

6. Last series you binge-watched?

I am currently halfway through One Day on Netflix and I’m scared to reach the final episodes! Everyone on TikTok is saying they’re such tear-jerkers!

7. Something you want to achieve in 2024?

I want to run my first-ever half marathon. I’m not the most athletic person in the world but it’s more of a challenge that I just really want to achieve!

8. Quote/advice you live by?

“You weren’t born to just pay bills and then die.” This is the quote I put into my 6th year Yearbook and it’s still as relevant for me today as it was 9 years ago as a teenager. Life is to be lived. It’s easy to get wrapped up in and stressed about day-to-day responsibilities, but ultimately, we don’t have long in this lifetime, so that quote reminds me to make the most of it!

9. Biggest ick/pet peeve?

When people are disrespectful/ignorant!

10. Best thing about your job?

The lifestyle and flexibility it gives me. I work for myself in the social media and creative content creation space. It can be hard and unpredictable month to month, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love being my own boss. I get to set my own hours, and work around my life – not fit in life around my work!

There you have it for another week of 10 Questions. You can keep up to date with Clóda on her Instagram here, and her TikTok here.

Let us know who you want to see next, and don’t forget to check out some of our previous 10 Questions guests.

See you next week!
