Say Goodbye To Matte Lipstick, Lip Gloss Is Officially In
For years we were all about matte lipstick. You can thank (or blame!) Kylie Jenner and her Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits for that, but after a year of very little glam makeup wearing people got used to having their lips feel comfortable and moisturised. So, we are officially living in the era of lipgloss again.
Thankfully, lip gloss has come a long way since the early millennium, as in so sticky you could not wear it on a windy day for fear of your hair sticking to your lips. No, the 2021 lip gloss trend is more subtle, less sticky and a mix between colour lipsticks and lipgloss to give a lovely finish.
Here are some of our top picks…
I’m going to give you two recommendations from Fenty Beauty when it comes to lipgloss…the first is the famed Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer, which I personally believe is the product that set the lip gloss obsession on fire again.
Gloss Bomb comes in a variety of colours and seriously the shine on this is out of this world. It also contains conditioning Shea butter, which enriches from within. Lips look instantly fuller and smoother, with a non-sticky formula that’s super shiny and has an addictive peach-vanilla scent. LOVE.
The second recommendation from Fenty Beauty is their hybrid is it a lip gloss or is it a lipstick, Fenty Beauty Sheer Shiny Lipstick. If you’re looking for something easy to throw in your handbag, that looks glossy and feel moisturising but you still want a hint of colour, this is the one for you.
I have the shade Goji Gang, which is a kinda plum colour. It just has a tiny hint of colour, which is handy as I find it doesn’t look bad to wear under a mask as it wears well.
The Glossier Lip Gloss looks like an OG gloss to me in every way thanks to its packaging and slightly pink hue. It’s described as “high shine without the stickiness”. It comes in 4 shades, but the Holographic one has me at hello.
Another mix between lipgloss and lipstick is the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre. Choose from 11 shades which vary from a slight hint of glossy colour all they way up to a popping red.
Although I do think it will take me some time to fully tear myself away from matte lipsticks, the comfort of wearing lip gloss and just how easy it is to wear is what is going to pull me over to the dark side, or should I say the glossy side?
