Summer Self-Care Challenge
This summer I challenge you to prioritise self care.
I want you to make small changes consistently every day to look after your own well-being. I challenge you to put aside at least one day a week to take care of yourself. It is so important to treat yourself well. Having a self care routine can help you to appreciate and respect yourself more. It can also help you to be more confident as you will feel good about yourself.
It’s also important to remember that it is nobody else’s job but your own to look after yourself. A self care routine can help you to take charge of this responsibility.
Below I have listed a few self care activities that I believe are essential when it comes to looking after your own well-being and that I recommend you try this summer.
Hydration
Do your best this summer to drink more water. It is so important that you hydrate as water benefits your body in so many different ways.
Typically, we should aim for at least 2L a day during the summer. My top tip for staying on top of your new hydration habit would be to get a water bottle that has a straw. This makes consuming water so much easier as you mindlessly sip at it throughout the day.
Nourish
I want you to make a conscious effort this summer to nourish your body. By nourish, I don’t mean to deprive yourself off all your favourite foods and to stick to solely veggies and other “healthy” alternatives.
No, this summer I want you to focus on eating in a way that is right for you and your goals. Do your best to not skip meals, to not under-eat and to not pass up on your favourite meals. Try and approach your eating habits with a more balanced approach that will be sustainable for you over a long period of time.
Pamper
One of my favourite self care activities to have weekly is a full blown pamper session.
I believe it is so important to take the time to look after your body. It is of the upmost importance to take the time to enjoy cleansing your face, to have a long shower and to apply your favourite skincare products. Do your best to savour these moments.
Your pamper routine doesn’t have to cost a fortune. There are so many affordable products that you can pick up to add to your self care routine. This process should just be about looking after yourself so that you feel your best.
Relax and Recharge
As part of this challenge, your intention this summer should be to relax and recharge This step should be a vital part of your self-care routine. There should be a certain portion of your day most days dedicated to just you. During this time you should perform any activities that help you to relax and switch off from the world. This could be reading a book, drawing, painting, playing music or doing any other hobby that you enjoy. I strongly urge you to try and limit the use of your phone during this time.
Exercise
I also challenge you to find time to exercise each week. Your goal is find an activity that you enjoy. It can be anything; going to the gym, going for a walk , doing dancing or yoga or swimming, anything at all. Your goal is to just make an effort to be active. Being active is an important element of self care as it not only helps to keep you fit and healthy but it also helps to improve your mood and energy levels.
