As we enter the month of February, Valentine’s day is the topic of many conversations. Yet Galentine’s day isn’t as popular. This day falls just before Valentines day on the 13th of February and can be a great opportunity for you to spend time with your best gals.
Here are some suggestions on how you can spend Galentine’s Day…
Galentine’s Movie Night
This is a great way for you and your friends to have a chill, stress-free night. This can be easily achieved by having everyone come over in their cosiest pj’s, having multiple blankets around, some of your favourite snacks and a selection of films centred on friendship, family and relationships. Some recommendations can be found here.
Galentine’s Book Swap
If reading is something in common you share with your friends, use this as an opportunity to annotate and swap one of your favourite reads with each other. This can then be a nice activity where you guys can read and talk about it after!
At-home Spa Day
Why not indulge in a self care evening at home? Light a nice-smelling candle, make home-made face masks, oil your hair and paint each other’s nails. This evening will have you feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Host a Galentine’s Dinner Party
Have each friend bring over one of their favourite dishes. You can then decorate the dinner table however you like with a set theme chosen by your group of friends and enjoy a nice meal surrounded by those you love. You can check out pinterest for any decorating inspiration you might need.
Support Small Businesses
If you have some money to spend and are looking to give back to your local community, I highly recommend shopping from small Irish businesses. Treat yourself with a sweet treat or you and your friends could set a budget and pick something out for each other to enjoy. Here are some small businesses to support.
While you may or may not have a Valentine this year, it is always important to celebrate the female friendships that you have. Spend this February 13th doing something you love with those you love.
