We are delighted to announce that after the success of our first Missy.ie Journalism Course for Teens we will be running the course again this October.
We often get emails from young up-and-coming writers and those interested in pursuing a career in journalism in college looking for advice about the industry and tips for writing articles, so we are so excited to put together a course to help.
What we will cover?
- How to come up with article ideas
- How to write engaging headlines
- How to write a great article
- Writing and editing tips to make your article the best it can be
- How to promote your work on social media
- Advice on working in the journalism industry, how to build a portfolio of work and how to get an internship
- Q&A session
- Notes and worksheets provided
- Feedback on an assignment (optional)
During each session we’ll chat through a few topics leaving lots of time for questions and input from the group. We’ll also be providing worksheets and be issuing two small (but fun!) assignments which are opinional to complete before the next session.
Who Is This Course For?
Anyone with an interest in writing and journalism. We’ll be covering all the basics of generating ideas for articles and writing them with lots of time for questions along the way. If you even have a small interest in writing come join us.
Like everything on missy.ie we are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment. The class will take place over Zoom with our editor, Danielle, and other participants. It’s up to you if you’d like to keep your screen on or off, whichever you’re most comfortable with. We know these things can feel a little intimidating, but rest assured it will be a fun and creative class with room and encouragement for everyone with all writing abilities. This first course is just for people aged 13-19.
When Is The Course Running?
The course is made up of three sessions. These sessions will run the
