You’re Not Alone: Celebrities Who Also Suffer From Anxiety
When you are going through something, be it anxiety or anything else that life throws at you, it is easy to feel like you are the only one affected by it. Seeing people who you assume have it together all the time admit they struggle can be a huge help when you are feeling alone. Roughly one in four young people in Ireland suffer from severe anxiety. Here is a list of well-known celebrities who have also admitted to struggling with anxiety!
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian may appear to live the perfect life but she has opened up quite a few times on Keeping Up With The Kardashians about her struggles with anxiety. In one episode of the hit series Kim even showed herself having a panic attack.
Even if your life looks picture perfect, anxiety doesn’t seem to discriminate!
Adele
Whenever we see interviews of Adele she always seems to be very laid back is usually cracking jokes. It may come as a surprise that Adele does in fact suffer from anxiety and stage fright.
Adele has admitted to getting stage fright before and even during live performances. How does she deal with it? Adele revealed to Rolling Stone that she uses positive self-talk, reminding herself that nothing has gone horribly wrong before and tries to crack jokes to keep the mood light.
As well, she channels her alto ego, who she refers to as Sasha Carter, (A combination of Beyonce’s alter ego Sasha Fierece and dinger June Carter, we love it!). Her alto ego reminds her to ask herself “what would Sasha Fierce do?.” This helps her feel more confident and put her mind at ease.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus has been in the public eye since she was a kid but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t experience anxiety like the rest of us! Speaking to Marie Claire that she has experienced anxiety since the very start of her career and she even cancelled some shows because of it!
Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato has opened up about their struggles with anxiety as a result of being in the public eye. They told Nylon that they can often feel anxious due to the constant interaction with fans.
Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande has opened up a few times about her struggles with anxiety.
She started to open up more about her struggles after the tragic terrorist attack that took place at her concert in Manchester during her second world tour. Ariana became a lot more vocal about her struggles with anxiety on Twitter and during interviews. She spoke about her mental health battles during her BBC music special in November, 2018. Saying “You have ups and downs and sometimes you’ll go weeks at a time where you will be crushing it and there will be no anxiety…and then something will happen that can trigger it and then you have a couple of down days.”
During the special Ariana urged people struggling to reach out and get the help they need by talking to loved ones or even a therapist.
